On Friday, March 19, 2021, the newly built Police Headquarters located in Anna Regina – the capital of Pomeroon/Supenaam – was visited by Director of the Corporate Communications Unit, Mr. Mark Ramotar and Deputy Director Mr. Stan Gouveia along with their team, as part of their regional visit to the Commander of the Division, Woman Superintendent Crystal Robinson.
In keeping with plans to decentralise the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the modern facility was constructed to the tune of just over G$200M.
As part of the GPF’s Strategic Plan, the building was designed to be more public friendly and will facilitate a domestic violence office, a case management room, witness protection room, an automotive case management system, integrated crime information system, listening room (to reduce confrontation between perps and victims), and offices.
The GPF is striving towards better accommodation, rehabilitation and social reintegration services towards members of the public. Towards this end modern detention facilities are catered for.
The building will soon be formally handed over to the GPF by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The contractor handed over the keys to the Ministry on Friday last. The stage is now set for the furnishings of the building before occupancy.
